6th of October Governorate, or simply 6th of October, is one of the governorates of Egypt, situated in the western part of the country. It is a prominent administrative division and is strategically positioned near Cairo, the capital city of Egypt. The governorate is named after the date of the October War, a significant conflict fought between Egypt and Israel in 1973, which is commemorated for its role in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

Geographically, the 6th of October Governorate covers an area of approximately 1,190 square kilometers, making it one of the more extensive governorates in terms of land area. It lies to the west of Cairo and is bordered by the Giza Governorate to the north, the Fayoum Governorate to the south, and the Beni Suef Governorate to the east. Its strategic location offers a critical link between Cairo and other parts of Egypt, facilitating transportation and economic activities across the region.
The governorate is known for its planned urban development, which includes the development of new towns and industrial zones. One of the most notable features of the 6th of October Governorate is its designation as a hub for industrial and commercial activities. The region has been developed with significant infrastructure projects that support various sectors, including manufacturing, technology, and logistics.
