What browser storage means
Cookies are small values a website or service can ask your browser to remember. Local storage serves a similar purpose inside the browser. These tools can remember a choice, protect a request, measure activity, limit repeated ads, or support personalization.

Your consent choice
The first-party panel offers “Reject optional tracking” and “Allow analytics & tracking.” The choice is stored in first-party browser storage so the panel does not appear on every page. It controls optional Matomo, Google Analytics, and the first-party editorial read counter; it does not switch article advertising on or off. You can reopen it at any time using “Privacy choices” in the footer. Clearing browser data may reset the choice.
Google advertising
The publication may use Google AdSense on individual article pages only. Advertising is separate from the analytics choice and may still be delivered in a contextual or limited form based on the article rather than a personalized advertising profile. Google and its partners process delivery, security, and measurement signals under their policies and applicable legal requirements.
Analytics
The site uses a privately operated Matomo service and Google Analytics through Site Kit for audience measurement. Matomo is not loaded until “Allow analytics & tracking” is selected. Google Analytics is also kept unloaded until that choice is allowed. When optional tracking is rejected, both analytics services stay off and optional measurement cookies remain disabled. Google advertising inside articles remains separate and may send limited technical or consent-state requests without advertising personalization. Withdrawing consent stops future Matomo measurement, stops the editorial read counter, and requests removal of Matomo browser cookies. The editorial counter stores only an aggregate total against an eligible article, not a database record for each reader; local browser storage prevents repeat counting for 24 hours.
Theme and utility features
Your Light or Dark preference is stored locally on your device. The homepage clock and calendar run in your browser. Weather loads automatically from the device time zone without requesting location permission. A separate, optional browser-location button can improve accuracy; Free Source Library does not store those coordinates. See the Privacy Policy.
Browser controls
Most browsers allow you to inspect, delete, or block cookies and local storage. Blocking all storage can cause forms, consent, security, or preferences to behave incorrectly. Browser-level “Do Not Track” signals do not have one universal technical meaning, so the explicit privacy panel is the clearest site control.
Use “Privacy choices” in the footer to reopen the panel. The new optional-tracking selection updates the site’s consent signals and replaces the previous stored choice.
