Weaning occurs around 2 months of age, and the young foxes will begin to accompany their parents on hunts shortly thereafter.

Kit foxes have a similar breeding pattern, with mating taking place in late winter to early spring. The gestation period lasts approximately 50 to 60 days, resulting in a litter of 3 to 5 kits. As with fennec foxes, kit fox kits are born blind and require maternal care until they are old enough to explore their environment and learn to hunt.

The lifespan of both fennec and kit foxes in the wild ranges from 6 to 10 years, although they can live longer in captivity.
